As we have communicated previously, the May 2019 Update (version 1903) and November 2019 Update (version 1909) share the same servicing content. That means they share the same Cumulative Update packages. For customers who were given the option to install 19H2, an enablement package is downloaded from Windows Update that turns on the November 2019 Update features. This changes the build number for the OS from Build 18362 to Build 18363. Because they use the same servicing content, the build revision number (the number that comes after the dot) will always match between May 2019 Update and November 2019 Update. Today, customers on the May 2019 Update have Build 18362.418 but Windows Insiders on the November 2019 Update have Build 18363.418.
NOTE: If you move from the Slow ring to the Release Preview ring today and are on Build 18362.100xx you will NOT be offered Build 18363.418 yet. In the coming weeks, Microsoft plans to move Insiders who are on Build 18362.100xxx forward to the final November 2019 Update build.
Windows 10 Insider Preview 19H2 Build 18363.418
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 19H2 update aka Windows 10 November 2019 Update aka Version 1909 is ready for release to all Windows 10 PCs. It has confirmed in its official blog post that the Build 18363.418 is the final build for the Windows 10 19H2 update and those in Release Preview ring already have it.
The only difference will be in that for 19H1 the Build will have 18362 while for 19H2 it will have 18363 in the name. For example, the latest 19H1 aka 1903 build is 18362.418, while as mentioned above the corresponding 19H2 build is 18363.418.
Microsoft has just announced the release of Windows 10 19H2 build 18363.418 to Release Preview Windows Insiders. This time around, this new build is only for those who are already running Build 18362.10024 and have previously enrolled in the Release Preview ring.
Microsoft has stated that they believe Windows 10 Build 18363.418 is going to be the final build before it is released. Users in the Release preview ring, will have already received this build through the latest KB4517389 cumulative update that was offered to Insiders running Windows 10 1909 on October 8th.
Microsoft announced last week that build 18363.418 is likely to be the final build for 19H2 that will roll out to non-Insiders as the Windows 10 November 2019 Update. But while that build is on the Release Preview ring, it's unclear how the Slow ring will get back on track. It's not as simple as adding the enablement package, because that would still leave users with a much higher build revision number than actual 19H2 PCs.
Microsoft has today released Windows 10 November 2019 Update Insider Preview Build 18363.418 to Insiders who hadn't yet received this build and are running Build 18362.10024. The company has also reminded Insiders that if you want to receive this final build of Windows 10 1909 and are still in the Slow ring, you will have to switch to the Release Preview ring.
Microsoft is expected to release the November 2019 Update for Windows 10 soon. The update is otherwise known as version 1909 and according to the blog post made by Microsoft itself, build 18363.418 will be provided to non-Insiders.
2ff7e9595c
